The number of undergraduates of School of Foreign Languages who have applied for overseas postgraduate degree has achieved a remarkable result. By June 6, 2017, 41 of the 2013 undergraduates from the School chose to pursue postgraduate studies abroad, while two chose to stay in the country. The rate of application for overseas postgraduate degree is up to 19% this year.
Among the 39 students who successfully applied for further studying abroad, 15 students were admitted to some well-known universities in the UK, such as University College London, University of Bath ( One of the top three universities highly praised by the United Nations in the field of simultaneous interpretation ), University of York, etc; 11 students are in Australian universities including University of Sydney and University of Melbourne, etc; four students are in the University of Hong Kong and University of Macau, while the rest of the students are around the world such as Japan, Spain and France.
The undergraduates of the School remain a relatively high record of taking postgraduate entrance examinations for further education abroad, most of who are admitted to high-quality and professionally optimized universities. The achievement is the fruit of the school’s excellent teaching staff and orientation. In other words, it has an experienced and energetic teaching team, especially the number of foreign teachers, amount to nearly 40%, effectively guaranteeing all the teaching activities, enhancing the students' international perspective and critical thinking ability. At the same time, the school leaders attach great importance to creating the ideal academic atmosphere and actively motivate students to cultivate great ambitions. Additionally, the School shows guidance and encouragement for those students who strive to take postgraduate entrance examination by providing professional guidance to those students, holding regular pep rally, organizing exchanging meetings and seminars etc. Meanwhile, a group of academic tutors is arranged to help students and give professional advice in many aspects, from the choices for universities to preliminary tests and retests.
In 2017, the rate of undergraduates of the School of Foreign Languages who have applied for overseas postgraduate degree reaches a record high. Those students’ outstanding achievement expands the channels of employment for undergraduates and enhances their employability. Meanwhile, they have further stimulated the perseverance and persistence of the students of the School of Foreign Languages.
