(记者 谢钰琪)2018年11月27日，外国语学院在乐育楼C206成功举办主题为《翻译中国文化的挑战与成功》的学术讲座，特邀西悉尼大学人文与传媒艺术学院助理院长、澳大利亚国家电视台SBS主管及总字幕负责人韩静博士担任嘉宾，讲座由院长陶文好教授主持。
首先，陶文好教授回顾了韩静博士为澳大利亚观众翻译的300多部中文电影和电视节目，如《孽债》、《老炮儿》、《满城尽带黄金甲》等。随后，韩静博士以个人翻译的经典电视相亲节目《非诚勿扰》为例，通过实证，展现中国文化在对外传播中的挑战及应对妙处，强调受众群体不同，对内容传递有着极大的影响。同时，韩静博士提出“在两种语言中是不存在的一模一样的表达”、“翻译不是一面镜子”等观点。
活动尾声，陶文好教授指出作为外语学习者，他对韩静博士的讲座产生很多共鸣，他认为译者不同于原作者，在文字、文化及价值观等方面，译者需要进行高难度的再创作，而作为中华文化传播者的韩静博士也值得为我们每个人所学习和钦佩。
The lecture entitled Challenges and Success in the Translation of Chinese Culture was held successfully by School of Foreign Languages in C206 of Leyu Building on Nov.27th, 2018. Dr.Han Jin, Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and Communication Arts of Western Sydney University，also the Chief Excecutive and Director of General Subtitle of SBS TV was invited as the honored guest. Dean Tao Wenhao from SFL hosted the lecture.
First of all, Professor Tao listed more than three hundred Chinese films and TV programs，such as Educated Youth, Mr. Six and The Curse of the Golden Flower etc. which have been translated by Dr. Han to Australia. Later on, Dr. Han illustrated the audience some challenges she has encountered in introducing traditional Chinese culture to Australia and the way on how to figure them out by taking her representative translated work, a dating TV programe If You Are the One as an example, emphasizing the importance of the target audience. Meanwhile, Dr. Han noted that “The sameness in two languages does not exist” and “Translation is not just a mirror”.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Tao shared a lot of commonalities with Dr Han and agreed that it’s much more difficult for the translators to reproduce and recreate in terms of literary, culture and value in the target language. And as a messenger and exchanger of Chinese culture, Dr.Han was a deserved example and should be admired. (Translated by Yan Chengyu)
