The Portuguese corner was held in the lobby of the library at 6:00pm, April 9. Ms. Sara Guimaraes and two Portuguese students chatted with some English majors (English and Portuguese Orientation) about the daily shopping experience in a relaxing atmosphere.
They discussed the advantages and disadvantages about shopping online. As was known to all, shopping online could help people save money .Besides, other consumers’ comments provided a reference. On the other hand, shopping online may not be convenient for foreign teachers and students because it was not easy for them to talk with staff of the express companies.
In Portugal, there were many shops and restaurants owned by Chinese businessmen. But those shops were not welcomed by the local residents because they thought those products were not suitable for their appetites. Those two Portuguese exchange students said that some brands of electronic products were well- known in Portugal such as Lenovo and Xiaomi. Although these brands were not as popular as some other first-class international brands, they were some Portuguese people’s favorite.
In the end, Ms. Sara Guimaraes suggested the Portuguese corner be held twice a month. Come and join us if you are interested in Portuguese!
