On October 15th, the English Corner was held at 6 p.m. in the Library. Ms. Dulene Cipriano, Mr. Jeremy Jenkin, Mr. Lucas Conrad, Ms. Linda J. Visner, and Mr. Christopher Dockstader attended the English Corner.
Ms. Dulene Cipriano told the students that she had lived in China for almost 8 years. She loves Beijing so much even though the city is crowded and the air pollution is terrible. From her experience, she realized Chinese people were more hospitable than Koreans. What’s more, in her view, print media, like books and magazines can give more information to readers than Internet where readers can easily glance at the titles instead of reading through.
Mr. Jeremy Jenkin discussed music with the students. He likes Jazz very much, and he also shows his interests in Chinese traditional music. In his opinion, Chinese traditional music could make him relax. Moreover, other students also expressed their interests in pop music as well as blues.
Mr. Lucas Conrad thought that traveling was unnecessary. He didn’t travel very much in his daily life or on vacations, even including his college life. He told the students that Mr. Jeremy Jenkin prefered traveling and had almost traveled all over the world. In addition, he thought that Chinese people preferd to save money in their accounts rather than spend money in traveling.
On this wonderful night, not only the students improved their oral English, but also the teachers enjoyed their conversations.
