At first, Mr. Landis Duffett pointed out that there was no consensus of opinion about the humanity education among people with different cultural, educational and religious background. Some people made a point of humanity education, while others considered it unpractical. Furthermore, Mr. Landis Duffett showed students how people in Florida, America looked at this problem. According to the speaker, the United States was a multi-cultural country and cultural oneness was obviously infeasible. Besides, the government added more value in the education of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics than in Humanity.
The lecture covered the current state of humanities education in America and also aroused students’ attention to humanities education.
