At 7 p.m. on November 9, School of Foreign Languages held the fifth lecture given by overseas teachers in Liyun Building B410. Mr. Wataru Sato from Japan held this lecture, which was entitled "My hometown — Hokkaido (the history of Hokkaido and the modern times of Japan) ".
Firstly, with a picture of the night Hakodate, Mr. Wataru Sato introduced Hakodate to the students. Through the Hokkaido’s history, he introduced the beginning of modernization of Japan, which made students know Japan better.
Except for the Black Ships Event and the Hakodate Campaign which signified the beginning of the modernization of Japan, Mr. Wataru Sato also showed some pictures of Japanese monuments left by other countries.
During the lecture, Mr. Wataru Sato sometimes spoke in Cantonese. With his humorous words and interesting speech, he always made students burst into laugher. Many students wanted to attend his lecture again.
