At 7 p.m. on November 18, the School of Foreign Languages held the seventh English Speaking Contest of BNUZ in Room A102, LiYun Building.
There were 14 students from 12 schools or departments took part in this contest.
The contest consists of two sections: prepared speech and impromptu speech. The title of the prepared speech was “Should People Who Return Property Expect a Reward?” The understanding of this title varied from person to person, and every participant had their own ideas. Some defended their points with examples from both modern times and ancient times; and some illustrated by giving the examples of Xiao Yueyue, Chen Guangbiao and so on, which are hot issues from the internet. And Yu Dian from SFL used data model to illustrate her point, which helped her to get a high mark successfully.
In the impromptu speech section, participants only got several minutes to prepare for the topic. However, most of them expressed their opinions clearly. Their confidence and fluent speech won applause of audiences and appreciation of judges.
In the end, Zhao Qingya got the special-class award, the awards of best pronunciation and intonation and best stage manner; Yu Dian and Luo Xinpeng got the first prize; Wu Wenjing , Zeng Jingya and Chen Wanying got the second prize; Liu HanZhang, Xie Weiwei and Wang Suwan got the third prize; and Liu Dingyi, Zhao Fei, Jiang jian, Xia HuiTing and Zhang Jing got the recognition award.
