At 7 p.m., on November 17th, the seventh movie night of this semester was held by Mr. Tim Musgrave, a foreign teacher from School of Foreign Languages, in Room C109 of Lize Building. Mr. Stephen Glenn Keen from SFL attended this lecture as well.
The movie showed was "The Fifth Element" which was directed by Luc Besson. It is about a scientific fiction story in New York of 23rd century. At that time, human beings will be faced with the Great Evil, and the only weapon capable of defeating the Great Evil consists of four stones and a Fifth Element in the form of a human. So the extraterrestrials take these elements to rescue humans. But the Fifth Element is destroyed, and Earth scientists use the remains to create a humanoid woman, known as "Leeloo". She begins to save the earth with the help of Dallas, a former major in the Special Forces. However, Leeloo has become despondent with humanity after seeing the history of War and refuses to save them. Whereupon Dallas confesses his love for Leeloo and kisses her. Finally, they defeat the Great Evil.
It is kind of an anti-war movie which brings students a lot to think. Lines in this movie are very powerful and impressive. For example, "Humans act so strange, everything you created is used to destroy", said by Leeloo; "What''s the use of saving life when you see what you do with it?" asked by Leeloo, and "Love is worth saving." answered by Dallas.
After the movie, all the students sang a birthday song for Tim and shared a delicious cake brought by him to celebrate his birthday. With students'' best wishes, the movie night came to an end.
