The 12th "Liyun Cup" English Speech Contest, sponsored by Youth League Committee of BNUZ and hosted by School of Foreign Languages was held  in room A202 of Liyun Building on November 18. It aims to encourages students in English learning and enhance their eloquence with Mr. David Koenig, Mr. Robert Kerry Mateja, Ms. Li Dan and  Ms. Wu Qian invited as judges and seretaries of Youth League Committee from different schools as guests.

At first beginning, Mai Ziqian, the first winner prize last year who is now an exchange student in Portugal presented an encouragement video to the competitors.

The first round dealt with themed speech and QA on "Communication is Wonderful".Each contestant would answer the question raised from judges. The audience applauded again and again by contestants'calmness, richness in knowledge. In the second round of impromptu speech, contestant would deliver a two-minute speech after half a minute preparation based on their comprehension of the given picture and video.The judges highly valued the contestants' confidence, wisdom and vigor.

Ma Jingyuan  eventually won the first prize after two rounds. Mr. David Koenig praised highly of the contestants and shared his own speech experience and personal understanding of the theme this time, beneficial to all attendants.

The "Liyun Cup" has been successfully held for 12 sessions. It has been widely accepted by BNUZ and SFL and has taken delight to students, granted  an exchange platform and provided an English learning environment.
