在微风习习，凉爽舒适的11月2号傍晚，英语角迎来Mr. Christopher Dockstader、Mr.Byron Boaz Sherman、Mr. David Whitlock、Mr. Michael Fisher和Mr. Lucas Conrad。

在英语角还未开始前，Chris已开始与同学们畅谈关于家庭压力这个问题。Chris认为要缓解压力，首先是要尊重父母，倾听他们的想法。如果不能接受父母的想法，就多做些运动，例如拳击，把压力释放出来。另外，自己取得经济上的独立也是解决家庭压力的一个好方法。

在谈到如何解决害怕大型犬这个问题时，Byron认为最好的解决办法就是尊重小狗，友好地对待他们。从这个问题上，Byron引申到了关于领养代替买卖的这个问题。他和同学们谈到，领养是尊重宠物的根本，这样能从根本上肯定宠物是拥有生命的存在体，而不是如可以随处能买到的手机一样，是没有灵魂的死物。

而David和Michael则谈到了中日语言上的差异。他们认为，虽然日语这个语言体系在很大程度上基于中文建立的，但两者存在很大的不同。因此同学们应尊重两者的相同和不同之处，这样才能体验到语言多样化的美妙。另一边，Lucas谈到了他对音乐的看法。他钟爱嘻哈音乐，因为嘻哈音乐尊重其他不同种类的音乐，把他们很好地融合在了一起。

通过这次的英语角，同学们都收获颇丰，懂得了尊重是必备的个人素质。大家在今晚英语角的结束后不舍地离开，并热切地期待下一次英语角的到来。审稿人：黄雨琦 黄君婷

English Corner: Life is Wonderful Because of Respect

With the soft breeze, the English Corner started on a comfortable evening of November 2nd, with Mr. Christopher Dockstader, Mr. Byron Boaz Sherman, Mr. David Whitlock, Mr. Michael Fisher and Mr. Lucas Conrad present. Five foreign teachers altogether.

Before the English Corner started, Chris talked about the problem of family pressure on students. He thought for the purpose of solving this problem, students should first learn to respect their parents and listen to their ideas. If those ideas were found to be unacceptable, then it was better for them to do more sports to reduce stress, such as boxing. What’s more, to be financially independent was another good way to solve this problem.

In terms of people’s being afraid of big dogs, Byron thought that the best way to solve this problem was to respect them and treat them friendly. From this, Byron casted light on a broader issue: adopting animals instead of buying them. He told the students that adoption was the foundation of respecting pets, which meant that pets were living creatures instead of inanimate objects which could be easily abandoned.

Apart from these, David and Michael talked about the differences between Chinese and Japanese. Although the Japanese language system was based on that of Chinese, a big difference still existed between them. It was great of us to respect the differences so that we could see the beauty of linguistic diversity. Besides, Lucas shared with the students his favorite kind of music, namely, hip pop. The reason why he loved it was that hip pop respected all kind of music and mixed them splendidly.

Students had learned a lot from today’s English Corner, they knew that respect was an indispensable element of people’s personality. Everyone was looking forward to the next week’s English Corner eagerly.
