11月25日晚，又迎来了每周一次的英语角，即使天气微冷同学们也还是早早地来到了图书馆，今天到场的外教是Mr. Martin Stannard和Mrs. Linda J.Visner。

Martin谈到了自己年轻时候的一些经历。他在自己十九岁的时候就离开了家，在外面有了工作，至此之后就没有再向家里要过钱。因为没有足够多的钱，所以只能租房子，并且在工作之余也成为一位背包客，和朋友结伴去了法国、西班牙和北非。当被同学问到在旅途中遇到的困难的事情是什么时，Martin回答“我们在法国南部时，因为雨非常大而无法搭到车，所以我们在树下搭了帐篷，决定在这睡一晚。但幸运的是第二天一早我们就搭到了车。”他笑笑接着说“这也是生活的一部分。”之后他又提及到在旅途中遇到了很多很友好的人并且交到了很多朋友。

另一边的Linda则谈到自己的母亲正在学习西班牙语。她说自己的母亲尝试着去看西班牙的小说和电视剧，由于西班牙语的字母和英语的字母相同，所以学起来会比较容易。之后同学们谈到了在学习外语时遇到的一些困难，如：法语的语法和西班牙语的颤音。在说到西班牙语的颤音时，Linda还教了大家怎么去发颤音，同学们都在努力地尝试着。在被问到为什么来中国生活时，Linda说是为了帮助孩子学习中文，在一个说中文的环境下，才能更好地学习中文。无论学习什么语言，最好的方法就是把自己置身于那种语言的语言环境中。

通过英语角，同学们在提高自己的英语口语水平的同时，还能和老师有了更多的交流，了解更多的信息，学到不少的课外知识。

English corner: Interesting Moments of Life

On the evening of November 25th , although the weather was a little bit cold, students as well as Mr. Martin Stannard and Ms. Linda J. Visner came early to the English corner held in the library.

Martin talked about the experiences when he was young. He left home when he was 19, got a job and never asked his family for money ever since. Martin became a backpacker in his free time and went traveling with his friends to lots of places, such as France, Spain and North Africa. One student asked if he met some difficulties on his way, he replied “of course, when we were in the south of France, it’s too hard to get a ride because of the heavy rain. So we put the tent under the tree and decided to stay there for one night. Fortunately, we got a ride in the next morning.” “That sounds like an adventure for me.” One student said. “Actually, that was part of our lives.”Martin added, “I also met many nice people on my trips. That’s great.”

Meanwhile, Linda said her mother had begun to learn Spanish recently. She was also trying to read Spanish novels as well as watch Spanish TV series, which were quite easy for her because the Spanish characters were similar to the English ones. The students were so excited and everyone wanted to share the obstacles they encountered when studying a new language such as the grammar of French and the vibrato of Spanish. Linda even taught students how to pronounce vibrato and students tried their best to make it. Students were very curious about why Linda came to China. She explained “I want to create a good language environment for my son to learn Chinese well. Whatever language you study, the best way is putting yourself among the native speakers. It is really helpful.”

In the English corner, Students have improved their oral English, communicated more with foreign teachers, got more information and acquired a lot of extra-curricular knowledge.
