9月23日晚，这是新学期开始的第一次英语角，刚过6点就已经有很多同学在图书馆等候。新面孔，旧同学，大家都热情满满地准备和外教们见面了。今晚到场的外籍教师有Ms. Amy Elizabeth Call、Mr. Andrew Chun还有 Mr. Christopher Dockstader.

Amy首先和同学们互相做了自我介绍，了解相互的一些兴趣爱好和生活习性，在互相分享生活趣事的同时与同学们拉近了距离。Amy讲到自己在美国的时候从来没有使用过诸如脸书，推特等社交软件，因为她不喜欢玩电脑或者看电视。她认为现在的人过于依赖手机、电脑而忽视了一些更重要的东西。

另一边的Christopher 和Andrew则由暑假为话题开始，和同学们一起互相交流各自的暑假生活。在欢声笑语中，Christopher不断地和同学们分享自己以前的趣味经历，在活跃气氛的同时，也和同学们谈到许多深刻的话题。例如，他提到自己日常生活经历里，经常会遇到其他人的抱怨或者责骂，他告诉同学们，有的时候不必太在意别人对你说什么，因为每个人都不完美，没有办法做到让每个人都满意。而我们唯一能做的就是坚持自己，努力做到更好的自己。

在每周的英语角，外教们会和同学们交流各样的话题，同学们可以借此机会了解到课堂以外更多关于外国的文化和习俗，也可以锻炼到自己的交际口语能力，可谓一举多得啊！

English Corner: Free Talk

On September 23rd, the first English Corner of this semester was held on the first floor in the library. Ms. Amy Elizabeth Call, Mr. Andrew Chun and Mr. Christopher Dockstader and students joined the English Corner tonight.

The conversations started with some self-introductions among Amy and other students. They talked about some hobbies and experiences. Amy told the students that she never used any social software such as Facebook or Twitter in the USA, because she was not so fond of Internet. She thought that people today used phones and computers too much, and they ignored something more meaningful.

Meanwhile, Christopher and Andrew were talking about their summer holidays with students happily. Christopher told the students that he often got some people’s complaining and blame; he believed he was not the only one. He suggested we should just try our best and be ourselves. Because no one was perfect, we could not make everyone satisfied.

In the English Corner, while practicing their oral English, the students can learn more about other countries’ cultures and customs by having communications with the foreign teachers!
