11月14日下午3:35,外国语学院于励耘楼A403召开中外教师研讨会议。此次会议由外国语学院副院长兼院党总支书记谢庆立主持,中外籍教师27人参加。研讨主题是:大学英语的阅读与写作。
会议内容分为三个环节。第一环节,谢立庆副院长说明大学英语的阅读与写作的评分标准,并对教师提出教学流程方面的建议。第二环节为教师讨论环节,27位中外籍教师针对教学过程中的六个问题,分为四组进行讨论:如何让学生更好地准备期末考试、如何使学生更好地理解教学内容、什么样的课堂活动可以让绝大多数学生都参与进来、怎样教学才算是以学生为中心、如何可以保证大多数学生在参与教学活动的过程中获得成就感,以及如何有效利用幻灯片。第三环节,小组展示讨论结果。Mr. Christopher、Ms. Dulene Cipiriano、Mr. Neville Swartz、Mr. Brett Gearing和张敏丽老师分别代表各自小组发言。
在展示环节中,Ms. Dulene Cipiriano建议,为学生解读长难单词时,可将前后缀与能单独成词的词根分开讲解,以便于学生理解单词及其派生词的意思;她还提出学生组成小组提出问题、小组间互相提问、解答问题的教学模式。张敏丽老师则介绍了自己先提出问题再引导学生寻找问题答案的教学方法;此外,她认为中国学生在学习英语时更注重词汇量,因此在教学过程中,她会较多渗透词汇知识。
这是一次外国语学院中外籍教师教学方法上的交流。通过本次研讨会议,外国语学院教学水平得以进一步提升。

SFL Holds Teaching Discussion Session on College Reading and Writing

A teaching discussion session was held at 3:35p.m. on 14th, November. The theme of the discussion session was College English-Reading and Writing.
Three parts were included in this session. Mr. Xie Liqing gave teachers some friendly reminders of grading criteria of the College English course and suggested teaching procedures in the first part. In the second part, teachers were divided into four groups to discuss six questions, which were how to prepare students for the final exam, how to make the teaching more accessible to the students, what class activities could be organized to involve most students, to what extent ccould the teaching be student-centered, how to make sure most students have a sense of achievement in attending the class and how to use the PPT slides in an effective way. In the third part, a representative of each group was invited to give a presentation.
After the discussion, Ms. Dulene Cipiriano suggested that teachers could separate a big word into some smaller parts so that students could understand it more easily. And she said she would invite students to make up groups and create questions by themselves. Ms. Emily Zhang said she would give students some other questions and lead them to find the suitable answers.
This teaching discussion session was an academic activity for helping teachers learn from each other.
