6月4日晚上6点，同学满怀热情地来到英语角，一阵阵欢声笑语也为图书馆的大厅增添不少活力。出席本次英语角的外教有Mr. Sean McHugh。本次活动的主题是：在超市的新鲜事儿。

超市，无疑为人们的生活带来了极大的便利。外教会如何看待国内的超市呢？Mr. Sean McHugh通过PPT的形式，向同学们展示了他在中国超市的所见所闻。他表示很喜欢中国的超市。在超市里，他见到了很多“稀奇古怪”的东西，可谓大开眼界。例如，中国人常吃的杨桃，番石榴，香芋，马蹄，红枣……他还现场品尝了颇具中国特色的皮蛋，吃后的表情更是惹得大家哈哈大笑。在这般欢乐的氛围中，同学们不仅学到了许多食品的英语单词，还见识到了中外超市的差异。

欢乐的时光总是过得飞快，英语角在不知不觉中已接近尾声。通过本次英语角，你是否能在下次逛超市的时候，看着不同的蔬菜，脱口而出相应的英文呢？

English Corner - New Experiences in Chinese Supermarket

On the evening of June 4th, the teacher and students took part in the English Corner as usual in the lobby of the library. The foreign teacher present was Mr. Sean McHugh. The topic was New Experience in Chinese Supermarket.

Supermarket is unquestionably a great convenience for people. How does a foreigner like local supermarket? Mr. Sean McHugh showed a number of pictures of “less-known items” with slides. He did like Chinese supermarket, because he found a lot of interesting things there, which made him very surprised. For instance, pomelos, mangosteens, carambolas, loquats and so on. And the funniest thing was watching Mr. Sean McHugh eat the Chinese authentic food-- a preserved egg, a nightmare for many foreigners. But for him, it was OK!

Through such a pleasant context, students were given a chance to learn English of various vegetables and fruits and more importantly to experience the difference between Chinese and foreign supermarkets. When you go to the supermarket another day, could you name the items in English?
