5月24日晚七点，以“美国式说服”为主题的第八场外教讲座在丽泽楼C105成功举办，主讲人是来自外院的Mr. William Weatherly。

在讲座刚开始的时候，Mr. William Weatherly并不是直奔主题，而是简述了自己的经历。他说在成为老师之前，他是一个销售员，在这一个工作中，他学到很多东西，其中包括如何说服他人。接着他通过PPT和手上那一本厚厚的笔记本，向同学们介绍了一些有关于说服方面很有名的书籍和一些权威性人物的语录。在这过程中，他并不是蜻蜓点水式的介绍，而是将自己的理解融入其中，让同学们更好的了解美式说服。

讲座结束后依然有几位同学热情不减的与Mr. William Weatherly探讨相关问题。这一学期的外教讲座在外教们的努力和同学们的热情下完美地画上了句号。同学们表示非常期待下学期的更有趣的外教系列讲座。

A Lecture: Styles of American Persuasion

At 7p.m. on May 25, a lecture entitled “Styles of American Persuasion” was given by Mr. William Weatherly in Lize building room C105.

In the beginning, Mr. William Weatherly talked about his own work experience before he became a teacher instead of introducing the topic directly.

He told the audience that he used to be a salesman, and he learned a lot from this experience including persuasion, the most important lesson. Then he recommended some useful books introducing American Persuasion and some related quotations by influential people through his PPT and a thick notebook. In order to help students understand it, he gave the specific explanation and his suggestion besides his opinion.

After the lecture, some students continued discussing this topic with Mr. William Weatherly. This lecture was the last one for this semester. Many students said they were looking forward to the new lectures in next semester.
