期末将至,外籍教师系列讲座活动已成功落下帷幕。该活动作为我校外国语学院举办的特色活动之一,不仅培养了我校学生对外语的兴趣,强化了外语能力,还加深了学生对外国文化的认识和了解,自举办以来获得了我校学生的一致好评和认可。本学期9月至12月共计四场外教讲座,主题各异,内容丰富,从音乐到高效能人士的习惯,以及学习型社会的创建等等,每一场都吸引了我校众多学生到场。
第一场外教讲座的内容与顺应时代发展密切相关。Mr. David Koenig 围绕How to Build a Learning-oriented Society 为同学们详细分析了创建学习型社会的影响因素以及重要性,引发了同学们对于创建学习型社会的进一步思考。
第二场主题为Study Habits,在主讲人Ms. Catherine Williams的精彩介绍下,成功人士Stephen Covey以及他的《高效能人士的七个习惯》呈现在大家面前。Ms. Williams对“积极主动”“以终为始”“要事第一”等七大习惯的生动解读,坚定了同学们稳步前行,一步一步走向成功的信念和决心。
第三场围绕美国著名实验音乐家John Cage展开,主题为John Cage- Indeterminacy in Music and Life. 主讲人Mr. David Whitlock以视频、音频等多种方式向同学们呈现了John Cage的多部作品,其中包括代表作《四分三十三秒》,使同学们深深体会到了音乐与生活的紧密联系,以及用心聆听生活中的音乐的美妙所在。
第四场是由Dr. Franka Kermer带来的主题为Foreign Language Learning的讲座。同学们了解了多种外语学习的理论方法,以及成功掌握第二语言的影响因素,这对同学们日后的外语学习有着重大意义。此外,老师还与同学们探讨了掌握一门外语的裨益之处,在交流中同学们深刻体会到了外语学习的重要性和趣味性。
四场外教讲座精彩纷呈,每场都令同学们切身感受到了语言的魅力,进一步激发了同学们对外语学习的热情。本学期外教系列讲座活动已圆满落幕,但同学们的外语学习却从没有止步,同学们仍将继续探索语言学习的奥妙和乐趣。
Successful End of A Series of Lectures Given by Foreign Teachers

The winter holiday was approaching, and the foreign teachers’ lectures of this semester had come to an end. The series of lectures, which were hosted by the School of Foreign Languages, not only cultivated students’ interest in learning foreign languages and strengthened their ability to learn it, but also deepened their understanding of foreign cultures. In this term, four foreign teachers’ lectures were held from September to December. The lecturescovered a wide range of topicsincluding music, habits of successful people, the buildingofalearning-oriented society and so on, allhaving managed to attract many students.
The first lecture was related to complying with the development of society. Mr. David Koenig illustrated the influential factors as well as the importanceofbuilding a learning-oriented society. And the lecture made the students think more about this profound topic.
The second one was about study habits. Ms. Catherine Williams introduced a successful man called Stephen Covey and his book named ‘Seven Habits of Highly Efficient People’ . The explanations for the seven habits such as ‘Be proactive’ ‘Begin with the end in mind’ and ‘Put first things first’ had strengthenedthe students’ convictionin moving forward to successstep by step.
The third one was given by Mr. David Whitlock about a famous experimental composer named John Cage. Mr. Whitlock introduced several works of him presented by audio and video, with ‘4 minutes and 33 seconds’ included. The works made the students recognize the close connection between music and life, as well as the necessity of being absorbed inlistening tobeautiful music in our lives.
The fourth one was a lecture about foreign language learning given by Dr. Franka Kermer. The students got to know more about the theories and approaches dealing with the aspects of foreign language learning and bilingualism. And they also learned the influential factors of foreign language learning. What’s more, Dr. Kermer also discussed the benefits of learning a foreign language with the students. The students felt the importance and interest of learning a second language.
The four lectures were so wonderful as tohave made the students become keenly aware of the charm of languages and stimulated their enthusiasm of learning English. Although the lectures had come to an end, English learning is still on the way, and the students will continue to explore the pleasure and secrets of foreign language learning.
