 2020年5月10日星期日，外院2020届英语专业和日语专业本科毕业论文答辩以线上形式顺利举行。在疫情影响下，毕业生与导师们使用了Zoom、腾讯会议或瞩目等平台进行远程论文答辩。

论文答辩分为9个答辩小组，每个小组均分为上下午场，在线上平台内同时举行，每组有3-4名评委老师。每位进行答辩的学生需开启摄像头和话筒进行3-5分钟左右英文/日文陈述，接着评委老师就论文提出3-5个问题，与学生进行进一步的学术探讨，同时考察其思辨能力及研究能力。绝大多数答辩的同学准备充分，表现出色，陈述和答辩环节均展现较强的语言能力。

记者采访了部分参加答辩的学生，他们建议学弟学妹认真对待毕业论文写作，在完成论文写作的过程中有意识提高文化共情感，并通过借鉴外国人的思维和文化，学会从宏观层面辩证看待事物。

答辩结束后，外国语学院本科毕业论文论文答辩委员会和答辩小组组长召开会议，评议优秀论文和不及格论文，并对此次线上论文答辩进行总结。

外院本科毕业论文答辩就此落下帷幕，毕业生的大学生活也即将结束，愿毕业生们前程似锦，不负韶华。

        SFL Holds BA Thesis Defense Online

The BA thesis defense of the School of Foreign Languages was held via video-conferencing tool on May 10, 2020. Under the epidemic of the COVID-19, both graduates and supervisors took part in this thesis defense online.

The defense was held simultaneously in 9 online chat rooms. Students turned on the camera, made an English or Japanese presentation within 3 minutes and answered 3 to 5 questions related to their theses from the judges. The judges conducted further academic discussions with the students, and meanwhile examined their ability of critical thinking and capacity on research. The majority of students made full preparations and performed well, demonstrating a high level of fluency in their use of the foreign language.

  Some graduates interviewed advised the juniors to break through the cultural barriers, learn the way of critical thinking and learn from the different perspectives of the foreigners in the process of thesis writing.

  After the defense, the SFL BA Thesis Defense Committee held a meeting to review excellent and failed theses.
