On the evening of October 25th, Ms. Kayoko Matsushima, Mr. Wataru Sato and Mr. Hiromasa Megoroattended the Japanese Corner.
Firstly, a student mentioned the customs of the Japanese New Year. Mr. Wataru Sato told them the New Year’s Day in Japanwas just as important as the Spring Festival in China. People usually welcomed the arrival of New Year’s Day with their best wishes. In terms of food, making rice cakes was one of the traditional activities for New Year celebrations. What’s more, he said that Japanese people would make some food which could be stored for a long time and put them inmultilayer paintedcontainers for the comingNew Year.
Secondly, Mr. Mataru Sato introduced the college entrance examination in Japan, which was totally different from that in China. He explained that the Japanese students always hadtwo chances to take the examination. They took the first examination and applied forseveral universities according to their grades. Then, students could take the second examination in the college they’ve applied for, which was an effective way for students to choose an university they liked.
Today’s Japanese Corner provided an opportunity for students to understand thecultural differences between China and Japan. Moreover, it helped boost students’ enthusiasm as well as enhance their interest and confidenceof learning Japanese.
