On the evening of June 13, Mr.Robert Kerry Mateja held a lecture about Philadelphia, the birthplace of America, where he grew up.
Firstly, Robert roughly made an introduction about Philadelphia, which was the capital until the 19th century. It became American first industrial city in the 19th century. Many immigrants from Europe such as Irish came here at that time. Even now it was easy to find an Irish bar when you were walking down the street. What’s more, as the City of Revolution, the Declaration of Independence was made here, and many famous historical figures were related to the city, like Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin. Besides, according to Robert, The New York Times last year also named Philadelphia as the Number 3 travel destination of the whole world, then he introduced some tourist sites, including Eastern State Penitentiary, Liberty Bell, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Independence Hall and so on.
When it came to the part of food&drinks, all the students fixed their eyes on the screen, which was full of pictures of tasty Philadelphia food like soft pretzel, tomato pie, cheese steak (a kind of sandwich).etc. Robert said people would have a taste of Philadelphia by taking a bite of the sandwich. For every sandwich, they made it whatever the way they wanted. Finally, Robert shared some trivia of Philadelphia with students. Students burst into laughter from time to time.
Students had gained a better understanding about Philadelphia and said that they couldn’t wait to go to Philadelphia in the future.
