On the evening of March 16th, Mr. Jeremy Richard Jenkin and Ms. Linda Jean Visner came to the library to communicate with students happily.
Jeremy shared his life experiences before he worked as a teacher with students. Jeremy said that he joined the army and broke his right leg unfortunately. Besides, the reason why he wanted to be a teacher was he wanted to know more people from all different backgrounds, which made him feel interested. Also he liked to travel to many different places, like Yunnan and Taiwan, to experience different cultures.
Linda shared the experience of her spending the Spring Festival in her hometown with students. She also encouraged students to share their experiences during the Spring Festival. She said she felt that many buildings changed a lot in her hometown and she was curious about all the new things. Besides, she also mentioned she loved traveling. But instead of travelling to crowded places with a high level of urbanization, she preferred to get close to nature. Some students also pointed out that the commercialization of scenic spots had become very serious in recent years. With the booming of travellers, many places had already been polluted and destroyed. Linda agreed with what students said and she was very happy for having been to Jiuzhaigou Valley in the 1980s.
In the English corner, students and foreign teachers could share the daily life with each other. Not only could students’ oral English be improved, but also foreign teachers could have a better knowledge of Chinese culture.
