On the evening of November 18th , Mr. Aaron Richards and Ms. Amy Elizabeth Call came to the English corner to communicate with students.
Firstly, Aaron shared some interesting knowledge about music with students. Different genres of music, such as soft music, pop as well as country music were discussed. Aaron said he listened to both Chinese and English music. Then, Aaron mentioned it was necessary to own a car in America for it was very convenient. A student asked Aaron if he had a car when he was at college. Aaron said his parents bought a car for him after he graduated and he bought one for himself afterwards. However, it was constantly broken and needed to be sent for maintenance. After that, Aaron asked students to talk about their opinions on the kinds of cars they planned to buy. Most students thought they would only consider buying cars after they found jobs.
Amy told us that Americans were friendly to people from all over the world. Besides, she shared her dancing experiences with us. A student also described her three-month stay in America: she worked as a lifeguard in a swimming pool which enabled her to support herself financially.
The English Corner not only provided students with a platform to practice their oral English but also created an opportunity for both teachers and students to exchange ideas.
