The 11th English Speaking Contest of Liyun Cup was held in Lize A106 on November 20th. Ms. Wang Yan, Ms. Li Xiaoying, Ms. Liang Yanting, Mr. Aaron Richards, Mr. Christopher Dockstader and Mr. Neville Swartz were invited as judges. Dr. Troy Smith, Ms. Luo Min, and Ms. Zhang Jingyi also attended this contest as honored guests.
In the first part of the contest, 12 competitors gave their speeches about the prepared topic:“Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well ”and responded to the questions raised from the judges. Some contestants think life is a journey not a destination, some define the secrets of success, and others think giving a hand to those who needs help is the most valuable thing in life. In the second part Impromptu Speech, every competitor gave their reasonable and logic opinions according to the titles.
During the contest, the chief of Magic Club and the university orchestra also performed interesting magic show for speculators, making the contestants relaxed greatly.
After the severe competition, Su Xiaonan from the School of Law and Government earned the award of the Best Pronunciation and Intonation. Diao Nan gained the award of the Best Performance. Mai Zhiqian won the First Prize and the Most Popular Competitor.
The Liyun English Speech has played a significant role in helping our students to enhance their overall qualifications and social competition. It is also undoubtedly a window of our English teaching results.
