On Oct. 13th, Mr. Aaron Richards shared stories about Turkey with the students in Zonghe Building A101. Aaron came from America but he grew up in Turkey. Many students came to the lecture.
At the beginning of the lecture, Aaron told students there was a bomb explosion in Ankara last Saturday, which caused injury and death, one of his friends got wounded. He felt very sad and asked everyone for a minute of silence for all of those who died on Saturday.
Ankara was the capital of the Ottoman Empire and Byzantine Empire, and now is Turkey’s capital. A host of great ancient people lived there.
There were delicious foods in Turkey, such as kebabs, fish and pie. They had traditional instrument called Oud, which looked like guitar. Aaron also introduced us the folk music and pop music in Turkey. In Turkey, people danced in groups, called Halay.
Turkey is a land of antiquity, a land of Islam, a land of modernity. Students learned a lot about Turkey this evening.
