Mr. Christopher Dockstader.
English Corner: Morality
Reporter Luo Haoyue
On April 22nd, the English Corner was held on the first floor of the library, many students participated in it. Ms. Dulene Cipiriano and Mr. Christopher Dockstader were present this week.
First, Chris mentioned a word—Dedication. He expected his students to learn to dedicate, learn to give everything they have to others. He asked students if they still remembered the little girl who was under wheels, and what we would do if we saw a baby lying on the street. Chris told them that they could not hug the baby immediately. They should be sure that the situation was safe first and touch the baby softly, then call 110 or 120. He said that he not only taught students’ knowledge, but also how to be a person. There were different moral ideas in different cultures. He did not expect every student to accept his points, but he would teach students good qualities. He told the students “Action speaks louder than words”.
When Dulene asked if people should help the old person falling down the street, students had various opinions. She thought the coming International Culture Festival was interesting and meaningful.
Students learned a lot about morality in different cultures from the English Corner this week.
