English Corner, held in the lobby of the library at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, appeals to many English learners. It is a pleasure for students to talk with overseas teachers about western cultures, ways of living, and domestic and international news to improve their oral English. They share their hobbies and amusing travelling experiences there.
On March 14th, many students came early to wait for overseas teachers, and some of them began to chat with each other before teachers'' coming. After a while, Ms. Linda Visner and Dr. Jonathan Ogden arrived, and they were surrounded by students immediately. Linda mentioned her marriage, family, and her experience of study in America. And she also gave lots of advice to students planning to go abroad. On the other side of the lobby, Dr. Jonathan Ogden was describing his travelling and teaching experiences abroad, which was completely attractive to students. They often burst into laughter when they heard something entertaining and funny. They also raised some questions related to teachers'' stories. The topic of drunk-driving also aroused great attention of students, as well as the topics of daily life and political rights in New Zealand.
English corner is a paradise for English learners, where you can find friends and talk with overseas teachers about study experience, and different life styles, cultures, arts etc. Welcome to English corner, English lovers!
